I feel like Wilco’s Summerteeth is a record that gets overlooked. While Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is clearly their Kid A, Summerteeth is filled with great songs and some of the band’s best production thanks to Jay Bennett. It has a rare mix of heartbreakingly sad songs and others that are truly uplifting – a combination that shouldn’t really work but somehow does. It’s also a timeless record that offers itself up to repeat listens always ready to reward you with something you hadn’t heard before. I have to credit Richard Linklater and Boyhood for reminding me just how great this album is.
