Most people have probably heard that Dave Chappelle has been doing a series of shows at the iconic Radio City Music Hall. We got to see him on Wednesday and laughed from start to finish. His voice and delivery are so good that he can say things that wouldn’t even be remotely funny from someone else and still get laughs. Any doubts there may have been about him losing a step were quickly put to rest and made us hopeful that he finds an outlet for his writing because the guy is flat out hilarious. The music portion, at least on our night, was kind of a disaster with a performance by DJ Premier from Gang Starr and an orchestra that should have been great but just wasn’t executed well and a sad appearance from an old, bloated Busta Rhymes and his recently unemployed sidekick Spliff Starr. Playing “Pass the Courvoisier” was our cue to go. The tickets were expensive but Chappelle’s set made it worth every penny.
