ClienteleI’ve spent a good part of this year falling in love with records from the past that I missed during their first run. The Clientele’ s indie rock  classic Suburban Light is a perfect example of this. Music is highly subjective and there’s no explaining why I’ve connected with this particular record 14 years after it was released except to say that I love the beautiful guitar arrangements, the monotone vocals, the strange, evocative lyrics – the whole thing just works. Pitchfork gave it a 9.1 and Best New Reissue this week and the updated version that Merge has put out includes some excellent bonus tracks that are sure to make long-time fans happy.
