Burial-Rival-DealerAny time Burial releases new music it’s a stop-what-you’re-doing-and-listen moment in my world but I was not prepared in any way, shape or form for what Rival Dealer had in store. Anyone that has accused William Bevan of having a formula or sticking to a script is going to have to find a different argument this time around. This new work is immediate but difficult, equal parts beautiful, abrasive and deeply mysterious – in a word brilliant. In a year filled with mediocre music and praise for false idols this is easily the most exciting thing I’ve heard in 2013.
