I stopped by the opening for my friend James Little’s new solo show at the June Kelly Gallery in SoHo last night. The show is called Never Say Never and features some impressive new work. The painting pictured above is one of two new styles James has been experimenting with and manages to keep his general aesthetic in tact while exploring new forms. One of the things that makes James’ work so unique are his colors – all of which he mixes himself giving them a one of a kind quality. There were several other large scale works with some really interesting color combinations but I think his peach seersucker suit may have upstaged them all!
James is an incredibly talented painter but also an outspoken character – as you can see from this interview I did with him for MINISpace. I’m looking forward to another visit to his studio with some spirited conversation over stiff drinks to follow.
