Very happy I made the trip out on Saturday with my buddy Jeff from Cascine to visit this year’s Pop Up Flea curated by Randy Goldberg and Michael Williams (from one of my favorite blogs A Continuous Lean). This is the event’s fifth year but somehow my first visit and I wasn’t disappointed. There were quality items everywhere you looked, many of which are online only, so it was nice to finally see them in person. Most of the booths were manned by the people responsible for what you were browsing and men’s fashion big shots like Aaron Levine (Club Monaco) and Nick Wooster could be spotted in the crowd. It was also nice to see local favorites like Hickoree’s right next to heavyweights like Filson and LL Bean. I ended up getting several very unique gifts and, as happens inevitably at these type of sales, a shirt for myself from Gitman Bros. that I had seen in Copenhagen but passed on. There were also several things that got added to my on-going wish list like the vintage footballs from Leather Head or this great lamp from Schoolhouse Electric. Safe to say I’ll be making a return visit next year.
