I’ve been following JR on Instagram (@jr_artist) for a few months now and have been consistently impressed with both his work and his drive to create it. Not only is his installation work in public spaces around the globe visually stunning but it’s also culturally relevant, with some serious thought behind how to connect with the communities where his pieces are placed. His latest exhibition in Hong Kong shows off his boundless ambition with a series of massive portraits directly in the city center. I caught a glimpse of what may have been one of his pieces recently in Brooklyn and need to investigate that further.
