Was at a Suite NY party (amazing modern furniture) with my wife last night and ended up right next to Les Halles, the restaurant featured in Anthony Bourdain’s infamous memoir/expose Kitchen Confidential so I got a chance to unexpectedly cross off one of my must-visit NYC dining destinations. It was almost exactly what I expected; a dark, old brasserie with a no nonsense waiter, a great peppercorn steak and some excellent mussels. Sometimes I don’t want to be surprised and typical isn’t such a bad thing. If only they could improve on the other diners, but that’s alot to ask for in that part of town.
