We were in Amagansett this weekend and stumbled into the grand opening of Innersleeve Records. The owner had been up all night and was clearly geeked to have his shop open for business. The focus was more on rock and jazz and Jenny went home with a handful of gems from The Rolling Stones, The Cure and The Velvet Underground among others. I did discover a few 12″s I just couldn’t pass up – especially at $3 apiece. I was resigned to the fact that the physical record store was going to be something my kids would never see but with this recent vinyl resurgence it looks like there is a nice specialty market for music you can put your hands on. You’ll never beat the convenience of digital music but you can also never duplicate the experience of pulling a record out of it’s sleeve and reading through the liner notes as the needle hits the groove.
