This beautiful short film shot over the weekend during Hurricane Irene pretty much made my morning. I’ve heard so many people complaining over the last few days about all the preparation and lack of impact or damage. Being from Florida I’m used to this. It’s standard procedure. But although Irene didn’t topple the Empire State Building it was a serious storm that you wouldn’t have wanted to go running around in. Maybe that’s why I appreciate these images so much because they capture stolen moments in an empty city that’s typically full to overflowing. I looked out my window in Brooklyn for long stretches of time during the storm and saw not one car, truck or person anywhere on the street. It was a strange but memorable moment.
