Last Night takes a very measured and mature look at the blurry lines of infidelity. The film is beautifully shot by veteran cinematographer Peter Deming (Mulholland Drive) and has a gorgeous soundtrack of both original and compiled music that really helped set the proper tone for the film’s thoughtful script. The natural performances by all four leads are strong but I was particularly impressed with the writing choices which avoided cliche and were able to bring new elements to an age-old question. Last Night premiered in the US at the Tribeca Film Festival and flew under the radar after that but I think it’s well worth a look for anyone interested in a believable portrayal of the kind of complex choices you face in a marriage. It doesn’t hurt that they cast four ridiculously good looking actors either.
