I was fortunate to see one of the very few shows Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear will be playing this year at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday. Thanks to my friend Jason Kap who works for Carpark/Paw Tracks we also had excellent seats right above the stage. Lennox, accompanied by Tomboy producer Sonic Boom, played the album front to back before adding two highlights from Person Pitch. I was really impressed with his ability to push the sound while also doing a good job of recreating the record live with clever details sprinkled throughout. It made me think back to his listing Nirvana’s live sets and the late J Dilla’s Donuts as heavy influences on Tomboy. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say you could hear echoes of both in his live show.
