Jenny and I got a chance to eat here recently and it really exceeded my expectations. I lived 2 blocks away for years but before they added a second wing it could be tough to get a seat. It turned out to be well worth the wait. The restaurant and their staff create a great casual-but-knowledgable environment and serve a menu that matches their Spuntino (Italian for an informal meal or snack) philosophy. We enjoyed everything we had including crostinis and a Bianco Sardo from their cheese menu but the Sweet Potato & Sage Ravioli in Parmesan Broth was unbelievable. Highly recommended for people looking for an affordable place in LES that isn’t too pretentious or too East Village. Their now famous olive oil can be purchased separately and is expensive (you’d never cook with it) but is also some of the best I’ve ever tasted.
